COMPOSITEURS ET INTERPRÈTES
MISIRLI İBRAHİM EFENDİ
Mısırlı İbrahim Efendi’s real name was Avram Levi. He began playing oud at a young age, and his steadily increasing interest in this instrument took him to certain Arab cities to continue. As he lived for a long time in Cairo, he acquired the nickname “Mısırlı” (Egyptian). One of the late period Ottoman/Turkish composers, he was inspired by masters such as Hacı Kiramî Efendi, Hoca Ziya Bey and İsmail Hakkı Bey. In addition to being a composer, he also made a name for himself as a singer. We have around 60 of his compositions today.
