Ud player, composer. Musician of Armenian origin. Berberyan was born in Istanbul. He learned lute (ud) from Udi Afet and played in public. He learned the Hamparsum notation and Armenian religious music. These three songs belong to him: “Nihâvend Ağır Aksak (Sâf-u râkid bir denizken mevcelendirdin beni)”, “Şedd-i Arabân Devr-i Hindî (Dildeki hicrânımı tâ’dâd- eyliyemem)” and “Uşşak Aksak (Pek muztaribim, ey gül-i ter zahm-ı dilimden)”. (Rona, 181; Kevork Pamukçıyan, İstanbul Ansiklopedisi, V.2, 530; Neş’e-i Dil, 241). He was buried in Şişli Armenian cemetery. He was a teacher of Yorgo Bacanos. In 1931, he published his paper on Turkish composers of Armenian origin in Yedikule Ermeni Hastanesi Yıllığı. (p.124-129)
